MRS. FRANK (HAZEL) WITCOMBE (1902 - 1969)

Mrs. Frank (Dick) Witcombe, 66, of Cherokee died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday in Holstein after a two year illness. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, the former Hazel Sargent was born Aug. 7, 1902 at Quimby and was married to Frank Witcombe at Boone, Ia., on June 10, 1924.

She was a member of Cherokee's First Church of Christ.

Survivors are her husband Frank, Cherokee; three children, Mrs. Encil (Lois) Williams of Torrington, Wyo.; R. Wayne Witcombe, Cherokee; and Mrs. Darrel (Betty) Hein, Spencer; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Eight brothers, Ralph, Albert, Tim and Walter Sargent, all of Dubuque; Chester and Jake of Quimby; Lester of Washta and Charles of Cherokee and one sister, Miss Charlotte Sargent, Cherokee, also survive.

Preceding her in death were one son, Paul, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Church of Christ with minister, Phil Gardner officiating. Burial is to be in Cherokee Memory Gardens. Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
