Wilmot Dies of bullet Wound
Phil Wilmot, 67, 324 West Locust, died at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital at 11:45 Sunday morning.

He had been rushed to the hospital earlier in the morning after he was found by neighbors with a bullet wound in his head. Police were notified of the incident at 9:35 am when they rushed to his home and found him on the blood-stained bed.

Police reported the wound was from a .22 caliber rifle found nearby. They also found a note, supposedly written by Wilmot. Medical Examiner Dr. Don C. Koser said the wound was self-inflicted. Dr. Koser said the bullet entered behind the right ear and lodged on the left side of the head.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday from the Boothby Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
