South Sioux City, Neb. - Harry Van Amberg, 82, died Monday afternoon in Matney's Cononial Manor, South Sioux City, after a year and a half illness. He had been a resident of the Manor for four years and prior to this had lived with a niece, Geraldine Corll in Sioux City. He was originally from Quimby.

Services will be 10:30 am Thursday at the Quimby United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marvin D. Cleair will officiate with burial in the Silver Cemetery, rural Quimby. I.O.O.F. Lodge will conduct services at 7:30 pm today at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mr. Van Amberg was born June 8, 1904, at Washta. He graduated from Quimby High School in 1926. He worked as custodian at Simonsen's for several years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Quimby United Methodist Church; a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army; a member of the American Legion Lyle W. Barnes Post 398, Quimby, and the I.O.O.F. Lodge, Cherokee.

He is preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
