James M. Ethington, 72, Cherokee, formerly of Layton, Utah, died Feb 10 in the Countryside Estates following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Feb 12 at 10:30 am from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Ray Kruger will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.
He was born Jan 16, 1922 at Newell to Earl and Dorothy Lindsay Ethington. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1942. His home had been in Cherokee the past 2 1/2 years; prior to this he lived in Layton, Utah, for 40 years. He was a shipping clerk for the Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Oddfellow Lodge in Layton, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He is survived by one niece, two nephews and several cousins including Mrs. Elsie Malcom of Storm Lake and a long time friend Bob Hatch and his wife Beth of Cherokee.
