Vernon John Ellerbroek Jr., 63, Owatonna, Minn
Owatonna, Minn - Vernon John "Bud" Ellerbroek, Jr., 63, of Owatonna, Minn., formerly of Cherokee, died Friday, Aug 9 at 6:45 pm in the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. following a several month illness.
Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday, Aug 13, 1991) at 11 am from the Boothby Funeral Home. Rev. Gene Sitzmann will officiate. Visitation was Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation.
He was born Feb 25, 1928 at Sheldon to Vernon and Gladys Jerabek Ellerbroek, Sr. He was married to Patricia Hagerstrand on June 1, 1950 in Cherokee. He was later married to Elaine Ulm on Dec 17, 1983 at Nashua. He operated Eilerbroek's Clothing stores in Cherokee and Storm Lakie for many years. He worked for Viracom in Owatonna, Minn for 10 years, retiring in February of 1990. He had lived in Owatonna the past 13 years, before this was a long time Cherokee resident. He was a member of the Elks Club and was a former member of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Owatonna, Minn.; two sons and their wives, Gred and Kathy Ellerbroek of Sioux City, and Drs. Chris and Renee Ellerbroek of Des Moines; two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Dennis Henke of Waverly, and Laurie and Rick Krause of Shawnee, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and one sister and her husband, Kay and Lyle Mummert of Cherokee.
