Gladys Essick, 79 Cherokee
Gladys M. Essick, 79, died Sunday evening at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1950 and prior to this had lived in Sioux Rapids.
Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Boothby Funeral Home. The rev. Alvin Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
She was born March 23, 1908 at Sioux Rapids to Thomas and Harriet Bentley Crane. She was married to Worth Essick in 1925 at Sioux Rapids.
Survivors include one son, Lowell Essick of Cherokee; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Worth Essick on Sept 26, 1962, three brothers and three sisters.
