Harold Swanger

Harold Swanger, 82. of 424 Summit, Cherokee, Iowa, died Friday, July 21, 1995, at the Country Side Estates, Cherokee, following an illness of 10 months.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee. Rev. Gary Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee.

Harold was born April 18, 1913, in Danbury, Iowa to Lou and Elsie (Pry) Swanger. In 1934 he married Velma Moon in Correctionville, Iowa. He had been a resident of Cherokee County since 1949. Harold had driven a school bus for Cherokee schools and also, engaged in farming for many years.

Survivors include five daughters- Jeanette Matzdorff, and her husband, Jerry, Aurelia. Iowa; Carol Carey, Iowa City, Iowa, Sharon Moore, and her husband, Donald, Cherokee, Iowa. Donna Hallgrimson, Torrance, Calif.; Ardy Benson, and her husband. Bill, Canyon City. Calif. two sisters. Irene Pfalzgraf, Cherokee, and Esther Utesch, of Moville, Iowa; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law. Velrene Swanger, of Cleghorn, Iowa
