OBITUARY

BROWN-Died at her home in Cherokee, Oct. 29, 2891, Mrs. Lizzie Brown, beloved wife of Joseph Brown, aged 33 years, 2 months and 29 days, of diphtheria.

The nature of Mrs. Brown’s disease made it impossible to publish proper notice at the time of her death. The deceased was born in Chicago in 1858, and was the daughter of Anton Morscher, now deceased. Her mother still resides at Elgin, Ill. She was united in marriage with Joseph Brown at Elgin, March 13, 1877, and has been a resident of Cherokee about 8 years. Six children were born to them, of whom four remain. Leon, born May 5, 1885, died Oct. 25, 1891, four days previous to the mother’s death. Matilda M., the baby, born March 11, 1890, died Nov. 10, 1891. Leon was the first to be stricken with the terrible disease, and passed away after a six days struggle. Mrs. Brown suffered for eight days and six hours, and when the final summons came, passed peacefully, calmly away. The baby was sick only 46 hours.

Mrs. Brown was an excellent woman, devoted to her home, her husband and her children. To Mr. Brown and the motherless boys a full measure of sympathy has been extended. Theirs has been a heavy burden.
