DIED.

GRAY-Christina Gray, after about three months illness, died on Jan. 14, 1891, at the home of Elder J. Patterson, aged 54 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Miss Gray was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and in infancy was brought with the family to Nichol township, Ontario, where she lived until the year 1882, when she came to Grand Rapids, Mich. She lived there until about fifteen months ago, when she came to Cherokee, Her health, which was at times very poor, then began to show improvement, which gave hope of recovery. This hope was but short lived, for with summer weather came failing health, which continued, bringing her last illness. In her the saving power of the religion of Jesus was beautifully exemplified. Her forgetfulness of self and her readiness to sympathize with and help others made her many friends. Her gentleness and patience were remarkable. Her faith in God and full resignation to his will showed her grace, which to the last sustained her. Her steadfast Christian profession made her beloved in home and in church. She was a member of the Children of Zion church for over sixteen years in which she did her part faithfully. On Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. funeral service was held in the Children of Zion church by Elder Paterson and relatives and friends following the remains to Oak Hill cemetery where she rests till the resurrection morning.

“Dearest sister, thou hast left us;
Here thy loss we deeply feel.
But ‘tis God that hath bereft us-
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When mortality has fled;
Then at home with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tear is shed.”
