Gus Adamson, 72,
Taken By Death
On Friday Night

Gus L. Adamson, 72, veteran retired
railroad bridge foreman here,
died at 1:30 p. m., Friday at Sioux
Valley hospital here after a short
illness. He lived at 409 North
Eleventh street.
Funeral, services will be held at
6 p.m., Sunday at Bethlehem
Lutheran church with the Rev.
Howard W. Lindstrom, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Oak
Hill cemetery. The body will be

taken to the church from Boothby
Funeral home at 4:45 p. m.,
Sunday.
Survivors are six children. They
are Oscar Emil Adamson, at home;
Walter L. Adamson, Cherokee;
Carl Irving Adamson, New Britain,
Conn.; Mrs. R. J. Miller, Sioux
City; Mrs. E. O. Benson, Sioux
City; Mrs. W. C. Kessler, New Orleans,
La.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren
and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Adamson preceded her husband
in death December 26, 1939.
Adamson was bom in Sweden
March 7, 1870, and came to this
country at an early age.
Adamson came to Cherokee in
18S9 and had lived here continuously
since that time. He began

in this city at that time. They are
now at Waterloo. He worked as a
B & B carpenter until 190* when
he was appointed a bridge foreman.
During his term of service with
the railroad Adamson built more
than 600 bridges and culverts.
He always was proud of his rec
ord of safety. Bridge building en
