MARCUS, Iowa - Lee R. Willems, 86, of Marcus died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Home in Marcus, with the Rev. Richard Remmes of Holy Name Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Willems was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Sadaila, Mo., the son of Nicholas and Mary (Treweiler) Willems.

He married Velma Dunn on April 2, 1940, in Cherokee, Iowa. He operated a garage and worked at Marcus Oil Co. He was also employed with Bill Radcliffe Excavating and did welding for the area communities. His wife died Feb. 1, 1986. He had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars for the last year.

Survivors include seven sons, Robert of Ruthven, Iowa, Larry and his wife, Chris of Belton, Mo., Michael and his wife, Elaine of Rockdale, Texas, James and his wife, Pat of Sergeant Bluff, William and his wife, Wanda of Cleghorn, Iowa, Dennis and his wife, Barb of Columbia, Mo., and Nicholas "Todd" of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; four daughters, Mary Willems of Cherokee, Agnes Belew of Marcus, Karen Brooks of Cherokee and Jeanette Willems of Marcus; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three children, Bernice, Daniel and Margaret; and three brothers, John, Matt and Gus
