MARCUS, Iowa — Kathryn Delaney, 97, of Marcus died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Richard Remmes officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m., and a wake service at 7:30 p.m. at Earnest and Roethler Funeral Home in Marcus.

Mrs. Delaney was born Jan. 22, 1902, at Adrian, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Justine (Weidert) Banck. She grew up and went to school in the Adrian area.

She married Edward Delaney on Jan. 21, 1930, in Adrian. After they moved to Marcus, she was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the Lyrie Theater (1932-1952).

She enjoyed sewing and working with flowers.

Her husband died July 15, 1991.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Ann's Guild, and the missionary society and the National Catholic Order of Foresters, where she had served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Marcus Garden Club, and Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Jean and Mark Nilles of Le Mars, and Pat and Robert Steck of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a sister, Viola Ruffing of Adrian; three sisters-in-law: Neva Banck and Alberta Banck both of Adrian, and Vi Delaney of Pierre; 10 grandchildren: Jerri Steck, Lisa Small, Suzanne Steck, Bob Steck Jr., Cathy Collison, Karen Conlee, Deb Schroeder, Mary Freshour, Mike Nilles, and Lori Kemp; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, and four sisters.
