AURELIA, Iowa – Martha D. Buddenhagen, 98, of Aurelia died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Larry Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Buddenhagen was born March 28, 1902, in Paullina, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Margaret (Dreessen) Ottzen. She attended Paullina Public Schools. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She married Henry F. Buddenhagen Nov. 21, 1937, in Paullina. They lived on a farm near Aurelia until moving into Aurelia in 1954. He died June 18, 1956.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul Ladies Aide, Friendship Guild, Sunset Knoll Auxiliary, and Cherokee County Red Cross Board. She enjoyed playing cards and entertaining.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Hattie Meyer and Frieda Lemke.
