19 December 1999QUIMBY, IOWA — Marlene Fick, 72, of Quimby died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999 at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with a family prayer service at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Quimby Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.
Mrs. Fick was born April 3, 1927, in Washta, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Alvena (Kohrt) Godberson. She attended Washta schools.
She married Harvey J. Fick on June 22, 1945, in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple farmed near Quimby until 1977, when they moved into Quimby. He died Aug. 31, 1987.
She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Bon Vista Club and Quimby Senior Citizens. She was a former member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Ron and Phyllis of Paton, Iowa, and Tom and Kathy of
Quimby; a daughter and her husband, Marcia and John Smith of Aurelia, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jonathan, Amber and Andrew Fick and Molly and Jill Smith; a sister, Lucille Elvendahl of Minneapolis; and a brother.She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Arlene Scott.
Memorials may be directed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby.
