QUIMBY, Iowa — Vi Aspleaf, 78, of Quimby died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Rev. Gregg Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Quimby Cemetery. Visitation will be all day today and Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aspleaf was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Cherokee County, the daughter of Henry and Esther (Dunn) Smith.

She married LeRoy Aspleaf on June 29, 1947, in South Sioux City. She had lived in Quimby since 1969, where the couple had owned and operated the Quimby Inn.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, Terry and Carol of Quimby; three grandchildren, Nicole, Cassie and Mike Aspleaf; a great-grandson; four brothers, Orville of Spokane, Wash., Clifford of Minneapolis, Minn., Don of Springfield, Mo., and Leland of Quimby; three sisters, Elsie Brechwald and Marjorie Wick, both of Spokane, Wash., and Gertrude Klingbeil of Remsen, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter in infancy, Michaelene Ann.
