CHEROKEE, Iowa — Orville W. Peekenschneider, 70, of Cherokee died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. James Steen officiating. Burial will be in Quimby (Iowa) Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mr. Peekenschneider was born May 14, 1928 in Alta, Iowa, the son of Hugo and Emily (Soules) Peekenschneider. He attended Aurelia, Iowa county school.

He married Louise Tamm in 1950.

He farmed near Quimby and also worked at Quaker Oats Elevator in Quimby. He later worked for Cherokee County on secondary roads for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He assisted and worked for several area farmers.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Stephens Ministry and Quimby Town and Country.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Kenneth and Linda of Pierce, Neb.; two daughters, Pauline Nordstrom of Holstein, Iowa, and Ellen and her husband, Mike Mitchell, of Alta; 10 grandchildren; nine great¬grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Marvin and Doris of Aurelia; and a sister, Marion Rollison of Webster City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve
