Mrs. George Cave
January 16, 1856 – July 28, 1930

Martha Alice Ogle was born in Washington County, Ohio, January 16, 1856 and passed away at her home near Cherokee July 28, 1930, at the age of 74 years, six months and 12 days.

At the age of two years she came with her parents to Illinois where she spent her childhood years.

In May, 1874, she was united in marriage to George Cave of Illinois. In 1878 the, with their family, emigrated overland from Illinois to Cherokee County, Iowa, and have continued to live in this county ever since, with the exception of 10 years spent on farms in different parts of Buena Vista County.

She leaves to mourn four sons and two daughters, William, L.F. (Leland Floyd), F.E.(Frank Earl), and Purl, all of Cherokee County. Mrs. Will (Edith) Coddington of Sutherland and Mrs. Claude (Grace) Young of Cherokee; also 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her husband having preceded her in death six years ago and also one son., James, who passed away January 16, 1929. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Fred, Will and Mrs. L.M.(Susanna) Smith. Four brothers and two sisters deceased.

In 1901 she united with the Methodist Church in Rembrandt, Iowa. She continued her faith all the rest of her days.

Mrs. Cave was a great home lover and her interest centered in her children. No sacrifice was too great to make for them.

Funeral services for Mrs. George. Cave, who died at her home Wednesday morning at 2 a.m., will be held from the old Cave homestead in Afton Township Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Gilbert of Pierson will have charge of the services. Burial will be made in Afton Cemetery.
