Cherokee, IA - Mrs. William (Jessie) Moses Jr., 92, of Cherokee died Saturday, 20 May, 1995, at Countryside Estates in Cherokee following a lengthy illness. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with Gregg Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A family prayer service will be 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moses was born 6 Oct. 1902, in Cherokee, the daughter of Jesse & Della (Golden) Wayman. She attended school in Cherokee & graduated from Wilson High School in 1921. She married William A. Moses Jr., 19 Dec. 1923, in Cherokee. She had worked at JC Penney stores in Cherokee & Fort Dodge for a number of years. After retiring in 1967, the couple moved to Spirit Lake where they lived for 15 years. He died 26 Apr. 1982, & she returned to Cherokee. She had resided at Countryside Estates the last 6 years. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years.
Survivors include 2 daughters & their husbands, Betty & Homer Dobson of Tracy, MN. & Darlene & John Dobson of Cherokee; 5 grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Moses of Pennedel, PA.; a sister, Mrs. Emmadel Samsel of Fort Dodge; 2 sisters-in-law, Ilene Nelson of Lemars & Marjorie Wayman of Fresno, Calif., & many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister; 4 brothers; a daughter-in-law, & a son, William A. Moses III, 24 Apr. 1995.source: Sioux City Journal
