Eva, the 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff. Dieterich, died last Monday morning of scarlet fever. On Wednesday of last week Eva and her mother returned from a visit of a month or more to their old home in Linn county. The child was taken sick the following Friday. It is not known where she contracted the fatal disease, as there was no case of scarlet fever, that the mother is aware of, in the neighborhood they were visiting. It is possible that she contracted it on the train. Eva was an interesting child and was greatly loved by all of her acquaintances, young and old. (Aurelia Sentinel, 10-28-1886)
