Harold W. Aringdale, 71, of Cherokee, formerly of Marathon died July 27 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee after a lengthy illness. Services were Saturday in the Hitchcock-Smith Chapel in Laurens, with burial in the Poland Twp. Cemetery near Laurens.

Harold Wilfred Aringdale was born Nov. 10, 1906 at LaSalle, to Carl and Julia Sanders Aringdale. When he was a boy his family moved to South Dakota. He married Freda Lee; she died in 1936; he married Margaret Florence Smith on June 1, 1940 in Mallard. They lived in Winfred, S. D. and later moved to Lehigh. In 1956 they moved to Marathon, where they lived for over twenty years. They recently moved to Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, a son, Cecil, in infancy, his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; sons, Harold Duane of Storm Lake and Lavern of Charles City; daughter, Mrs. Julia McGee and Mrs. Janice Sassman of Cherokee; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Denzil, of Osceola. (abstract, Laurens Sun, 8-3-1978)
