OBITUARY
Henry Swanson was born at Fjelkestad, Sweden, May 25, 1844, and died at his home in Aurelia, Iowa, on January 30, 1917, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 5 days.
He came to the country in 1869 and was united in marriage to Beneta Pehrsdotter at Knoxville, Illinois, March 23, 1871. In the spring of 1872 they came to the town of Aurelia where they lived many years, later moving to a farm four and one half miles north of Aurelia again four years ago where they have since lived.
Mr. Swanson was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church and a member of the of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and to the end he believed in the teachings of these institutions.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and seven children, Nels Swanson of Greybull, Wyoming; Mrs. Edith Todd of Wilcox, Canada; Mrs. Ella Stutz, Mrs. Hilda Stutz, William, Albert and Clarence Swanson, all of Aurelia; ten grandchildren; a brother, Nels Swanson of Alta and a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery where the I.O.O.F. lodge had charge of services. (Aurelia Sentinel, 2-8-1917)
