OBITUARY
Ross Theodore Dick, son of Peter and Barbara Dick, was born in Williams county, Ohio, on February 5, 1855, and died at Aurelia, Iowa, on February 17, 1917, at the age of 62 years and 12 days.
When yet a young boy he moved with his parents to Plainfield, Illinois, and in the year 1881 came to Aurelia where he has since made his home, with the exception of two years spent at Aurora, Illinois. He was identified with the business interests of Aurelia in the early days of the town, engaging in the mercantile business with Henry Hebbel in the year 1889. Seven years later he engaged in business by himself and continued for a period of about four years when he disposed of his interests and engaged in farming, a pursuit which he has since followed.
He was married to Ella R. Lockin Oct. 11, 1892, to which union were born three children, John Clifford, Angie Lucile and Mary Josephine, who live to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and kind father. Three brothers, M. A. Dick of Aurelia, W. Dick of Michigan and Lewis Dick of Joliet, Illinois, and one sister, Mrs. George Kirkham of Albia, Iowa also mourn his death.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The relatives who were here attending the funeral were Lewis Dick of Joliet, Illinois, Rev. and Mrs. S. R. Beatty of Cedar Rapids, and Merle Dick, of Larrabee. (Aurelia Sentinel, 2-22-1917)
