ARLIN "SLIM" BOOTHBY
(October 21, 1915 - April 11, 2009

ARLIN “SLIM” BOOTHBY, 93, long time Correctionville, Iowa resident, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, Iowa. Pastor Sheryl Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in the Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present at the Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, Iowa with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. On line condolnences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Arlin was born October 21, 1915 in Tilden Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to Alfred and Sophia (Hartliep) Boothby. He graduated from Washta Public School in 1934. He was married to Eleanor Beers on December 24, 1938 at Washta, Iowa. He farmed early in his life; then worked for Simonsens in Quimby for a few years. He worked at the Correctionville Schools (later Eastwood) from 1961 until 1980 as a custodian, bus driver and bus maintenance. He had lived in Correctionville area most of his life. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren and also enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother-in-law Arbie and Joe Dessel

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, and four children: Jim Boothby of Temple, Texas; Cheryl Volkert of Correctionville, Iowa; Alan Boothby and his wife Alexandra of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin; Marc Boothby and his wife Lorrie of Moville, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
