(October 17, 1960 - April 9, 2009)

JON W. ROBERTS, 48, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Thursday morning, April 09, 2009 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 11th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Jon was born October 17, 1960 in Cherokee, Iowa to Bob and LaVon (Peck) Roberts. He graduated from Washington High School in the Class of 1979. He had been a resident of Cherokee County all his life. Jon was known by many of his friends as “Gomer.”

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ray and Ellen Roberts and maternal grandparents Henry and Irene Peck and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his parents, Bob and LaVon Roberts of Cherokee, Iowa; two brothers and two sisters: Dave Roberts and his wife Sheryl of Tabor, Iowa; Dan Roberts and his wife Kelley of Norfolk, Nebraska; Lori Ebel and her husband Kirk of Hartley, Iowa; Kelly Pitts and her husband Mike of Cherokee, Iowa; his nieces and nephews: Nate & Abby Roberts, Amy & Eric Roberts; Ryan, Katie & Cole Ebel; Matt, Adam, Andy, Mason & Molly Pitts, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
