Irma "Daisy" Boothby, 88, of Cherokee, passed away on March 13, 2009 at her home in Cherokee following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held on March 17 at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, with Rev. Ethan D. Sayler officiating. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina. Irma May Henderson was born May 19, 1920, near Paullina, to Orville "Slim" and Hazel (Carlson) Henderson. She attended school in Paullina and Santa Monica, Calif., graduating from Paullina in 1939. She furthered her education at Los Angeles Technical College and Sioux Falls College.

Daisy married Laurence Ehrich on March 11, 1942 in Glendale, Calif., and worked as a telephone operator in Paullina, McAllen, Texas, and Los Angeles from 1936 until 1942. She later worked as a librarian in Cherokee, from 1965 until 1978, and also worked for Young American in Minnesota before retiring in 1982.

Daisy married Thomas D. Boothby on Sept. 9, 1989 at Spirit Lake. During the course of her adult life, she lived in Cherokee for 43 years, in Hutchinson, Minn. for four years, and Evening Shade, Ark. for eight years.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Terry Ehrich and Joe Ehrich; a daughter-in-law, Diane (Sump) Ehrich; and a brother and sister-in-law. Russell and Doreen Henderson.

She is survived by her husband Tom; her daughter, Kae Soost and her husband Howard of Arlington, Minn.; three daughters-in-law, Connie McDermott of Evening Shade, Ark.,Margaret Spiller of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Sally Shae Ehrich of Boseman, Mont.; five step-children, Margaret (Larry) Simmon of Springfield, Mo.; Richard (Roberta) Boothby of Cherokee; Barbara (Lane) Stratton of Alvin, Texas; David (Gigi) Boothby of Cherokee; and Elaine (Tim) Elsbury of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Joshua Soost of St. Anthony, Minn.; Daniel Soost and girl friend Bethany Whiteley of Bella Vista, Ark.; Jennifer Soost of Mankato, Minn.; Deanna Soost of Delano, Minn.; Chad Ehrich of Delano, Minn.; Amy (Matthew) Brown of Newark, Ark. and Matthew (Amanda) Spiller of Broomfield, Colo.; 14 step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Kari & Brandy Shae; Jean (Tom) Harrington; Joshua (Amber) Simmon; Pete (Kristin) Boothby; T.R.(Amanda) Boothby; Jill Erickson; Abbey Stratton; Jennifer (Mike) Nixon; Matthew and Michael Boothby; and Megan and Sarah Elsbury; 4 great-grandchildren, Cameron and Joseph Spiller and Catherine and Ashlynne Ehrich; 10 step great-grandchildren, Logan, Taylor and Travis Erickson; Tyler and Mason Boothby; Cameron and Emily Boothby; Garrett Glass; Evan Simmon, and Cooper Nixon; four sisters-in-law, Dian (Robert) Erdman of Cherokee, Mildred Moses of Madison, Wis., Arlene (Dick) Deichmann of Venice, Fla. and Lois (Robert) Montgomery of Sedona, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Floyd (Betty) Ehrich of Cherokee; a special friend, Vera Swanson of Hutchinson, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
