Barbara Tamm Berglund, 80, of Cherokee, passed away March 14, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services were held on March 18 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, with Rev. Magrey deVega officiating. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Barbara was born July 20, 1928 in Denison, to Clarence Henry and Marie (Weiss) Tamm. She graduated from Denison High School, and attended Stevens College in Columbia, Mo. for two years and University of Iowa for two years, graduating with a teaching degree.

She was married to Glen Robert Berglund on March 29, 1952 at Denison, and taught school in the Cherokee Community Schools for several years. Barbara made her home in Cherokee but also lived in Cedar Falls and LeMars at different times in her life. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, P.E.O., AAUW, and the Cherokee Symphony Board. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glen, on April 4, 1996.

She is survived by her five children: Anne Barbara Berglund of Tucson, Ariz.; William Robert Berglund and his wife, Jennifer, of Austin, Texas; Mary Joyce Fisher and her husband, Jeff, of Cedar Falls; Patricia Tamm Berglund of Parker, Colo.; Richard Glen Berglund of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren, Patricia Marie Fisher, Emily Barbara Fisher, Donald Glen Fisher, Hannah Mary Pobar, Amy Jo Pobar; and Kathryn Lee Berglund; one great grandson, Alex; one sister, Joyce Curtis of Ft. Worth, Texas; and one brother, Clifford Tamm and his wife, Judy, of Harlan.
