Doris V. Roseen

Doris V. Roseen, 87, of Marcus, Iowa died Wednesday February 4, 2009 in the Heartland Care Center, Marcus, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 7, 2009 at the Grace United Methodist Church, Marcus, Iowa. Pastor Gary McDonough will officiate. Burial will be in the Marcus Amherst Cemetery Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. Doris was born on December 4, 1921 in Quimby, Iowa to Clare and Helen (Moe) Green. She attended Quimby High School graduating in 1941. Doris then went on to Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa where she earned her teaching degree. On January 25, 1953 she married Edgar Roseen in Cherokee, Iowa. He preceded her in death September 5, 2004. She taught county school in Quimby, Cleghorn, Cherokee, and Storm Lake. Doris loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking, reading, and quilting. Doris taught at the Holy Name Catholic Schools in Marcus, Iowa for a short time later in her career. She also cleaned the Grace United Methodist Church and served hot lunch in Marcus in her retirement.

Doris was a 50 year member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. She was also a member of the Women’s Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Kunkel and her husband, James, of Marcus, IA; two sons, Doug Roseen and his wife, Linda, of Marcus, IA; Brian Roseen of Marcus, IA; grandchildren, Molly Fordyce, Nathan Roseen, Alex Roseen, and Mallory Roseen; a sister, Beverly Nelson of Cherokee, IA; a brother, Dale Green and his wife, Dorothy, of Estherville, IA; a sister-in-law, Collen Green of Cherokee, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar (2004); three brothers, Burl Green, Vernon Green, and Melvin Green; a sister Vesta Courtright.
