Jamie L. Spence, 37, of Cherokee, Iowa died Tuesday February 10, 2009 in the Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday February 13, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cherokee, Iowa. Reverend Larry Lemke will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Jamie was born on February 16, 1971 in Spencer, Iowa to Edward J. and Diane (Reusch) Spence. She attended Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa and graduated in 1989. After high school she entered the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii. Following her military service she worked at a bank in Tampa, Florida and also worked in real estate. Jamie then moved back to Cherokee, Iowa and attended Western Iowa Tech and received her training as a surgical technician. She most recently worked at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa. Jamie was forced to stop working due to her illness.

She is survived by three daughters, Samantha Lynn Colon-Spence of Cherokee, IA; Jasmine Renee Johnson of Omaha, NE; Jacquetta Emily Spence of Omaha, NE; a son, Peterjon Spence of Cherokee, IA; her parents, Ed and Diane Spence of Cherokee, IA; a sister, Michelle Pedersen and her husband, Bryan, of Cherokee, IA; a brother, Michael Spence and his wife, Lisa, of Cherokee, IA; her maternal grandmother, Margaret Reusch of Paullina, IA; two nieces and two nephews; numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents; maternal grandfather; a son Nicholas (1991); cousins Brian and Russ.
