U.S. Veteran ROBERT W. “BOB” BOOTH, 85 of rural Aurelia, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Alan Dean of Living Word Outreach Ministries of Spencer will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. There will be military rites at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. On line condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com

Bob was born May 14, 1923 at Aurelia, Iowa to William and Pearl (Hines) Booth. He attended country school and received his G.E.D. while in the U. S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II. He was married to Charlene Shultz on August 8, 1948 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. He had farmed and lived in the Aurelia area all his life. He enjoyed drinking coffee at the kitchen table with friends and neighbors. He loved horses and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a member of the American Legion at Aurelia, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on January 17, 1987, a sister Midge Holman, a brother Jerry Booth and a brother in infancy.

He is survived by one son and one daughter: Brad Booth and his wife Sheree of Aurelia, Iowa; Becky Menke of Spencer, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Allan Booth and his wife Trisha, Adam Booth and his wife Katie both of Cherokee; Melissa Muckey and her husband Luke of Spencer, Iowa; 6 great granddaughters: Halee, Grace & Abby Booth; Autumn and Allison Booth; Maddy Muckey.
