Dorothy A. Rainboth, 88, of Marcus, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 at the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Funeral services were held on Dec. 3, 2008 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus, with Rev. Gary McDonough officiating. Burial followed at the Marcus Amherst Cemetery.The Earnest -- Johnson Funeral Home of Marcus was in chage of funeral arrangements. Dorothy Agnes Rainboth was born on Sept. 4, 1920 on the family farm near Kingsley the daughter of George Arthur and Mary Agnes (Conley) Pratt. She attended rural school near her home and later graduated from Union Consolidated High School, rural Remsen. Dorothy earned her teacher's certificate from Western Union (Westmar) College in Le Mars and then taught in Lincoln Township, Plymouth County, for the next three years.

Dorothy and Wendell "Babe" Rainboth were united in marriage on Aug. 14, 1941 in Coleridge, Neb. The couple made their home south of Le Mars. Dorothy and Babe farmed and raised their family near Le Mars until 1954 when they relocated to a farm west of Marcus. Babe passed away on May 3, 1994. Dorothy remained on the farm until moving into Marcus in 1996. She became a resident of Heartland Care Center in Marcus on February of 2003.

She was presently a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus and formerly a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, rural Remsen. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. She also enjoyed dancing and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Wyndom and Robert "Bobbie" Pratt; and sisters Erma Plendl and Iona Sudtelgte.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon and Ron Sadler of Spirit Lake; two sons Clark and Vickie Rainboth of Marcus and Bruce Rainboth of Marcus; seven grandchildren Rustin and Carol Sadler of Battle Creek, Ryan Sadler of Ida Grove, Jason and Melynda Rainboth of Sioux Falls, S.D., Wendy and Todd Tryon of Harrisburg, S.D., Joe and Brandie Rainboth of Spearfish, S.D., Lee Rainboth of Marcus, and Amber Neisius of Marcus; eight great-grandchildren Austin and Justin Sadler, Thomas, Avery and Victoria Rainboth, Tytan, Jersy, and Lyncoln Tryon; five brothers Donald Pratt of Pierson, Lyle and Marian Pratt of Washta, Clarence and Dorothy Pratt of Aurelia, Orlin and Ellen Pratt of Remsen, and Richard and Donna Pratt of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.
