Regina Bienlien, 75, of Cherokee, Iowa died Friday December 5, 2008 at the Countryside Estates Nursing Home, Cherokee, Iowa following a brief illness.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Gasthaus Restaurant in Cherokee, Iowa. Regina’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held on June 11, 2009 at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Holstein, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, Iowa. Regina was born on October 9, 1933 in Holstein, Iowa to Walter and Margaret (Cooley) Bienlien. She attended school in Holstein, Iowa. Regina worked for many years at the Hilltop Nursing Home and had also worked in an assisted living facility. She lived most of her life in Cherokee, Iowa. Regina was a great card player and enjoyed playing euchre and pinochle as well as 500. She enjoyed making quilts for infants and donated them to those in need.

She is survived by her son, David Bienlien of Cherokee, IA; three brothers, William Bienlien, James Bienlien, and Daniel Bienlien.

She was preceded in death by a step-brother Louie Bucholz; a step-sister Mary Hansen.
