ETHEL C. EHRICH
(December 27, 1913 - November 5, 2008)

ETHEL C. EHRICH, 94, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, November 5, 2008 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Ethan Sayler will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home and will continue on Saturday morning at the funeral home with the family present from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Ethel was born on December 27, 1913 at Laurens, Iowa to Emil & Anna Kate (Reinhart) Johnson. She attended Pocahontas Schools. She had owned and operated the Quality Café in Cherokee from 1960 until 1970 when she retired. She was married to Ronald Ehrich on February 20, 1970 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee and was active in the women’s groups of the church. She had been a resident of Cherokee for many years and had also lived in Pocahontas, Iowa for several years, most recently from 2001-2004 before moving back to Cherokee. She belonged to the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital Quilting Group. Ethel enjoyed quilting, square dancing and cooking Thanksgiving dinner at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald Ehrich on September 1, 2000, a daughter Dorla Christiansen, 2 brothers George and Delbert “Bud” Johnson, 2 sisters Freida Moritz and Edna Shipman.

She is survived by one daughter: Sandra Hood of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and her special friend Fritz Schott of Pocahontas, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; one sister Winnie Lewis of Pocahontas, Iowa; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
