Elmer Alfred Otte, 82, of Primghar Ia, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Primghar Care Center in Primghar.
Services were held Mon. Oct. 27th at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar with the Revs. Trudy A. Peterson and S. Kim Peterson officiating. Buriel was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Primghar with military flag presentation provided by Elmers grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Gaudian Eldridge Funeral Home.
Elmer Alfred Otte , the son of Alfred and Myrtle (Root) Otte, was born on Sept. 11 1926, near Peterson , Iowa , He recieved his education in Calumet, IA and graduated from Calumet High School in 1945. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from June of 1951 until June 1953 during the Korean war. On Oct. 9, 1955, he was united in Marriage to Emily Hasenwinkel at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple lived in Calumet from 1956 until 1962, when they moved to Primghar. Elmer worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for 40 years as a customer service agent before his retirement in 1985. The couple's retirement years were spent in Primghar. Elmer has been a resident of the Primghar Care Center since Nov. 2004.
He was baptized on July 8, 1928, at St. John's Evangelical Church in Peterson. He was confirmed on Apr. 1941, at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Calumet.He was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and the Chateau-Thierry Post of the American Legion of Primghar. He was a former member of the Primghar Fire Dept. Elmer loved to go ice fishing.
Elmer leaves to mourn his passing , his wife of 53 years, Emily of Primghar; 3 children, Laurie and her husband Mark Tjosvold of Corinth TX., Dalene and her husband Russ Walker of Lincoln, Neb, and Douglas and his wife , LeeAnn Otte of Monterey Calif. ; 14 grandchildren, Bobby and wife Christy Tumlinson , Justin Tumlinson, Liz Tjosvold, Karen Tjosvold, Eric and wife , Kate Walker, John Walker, Michael Walker, Dalton Walker, Alicia Walker, Makhi Walker, Brandon Baza, Nathan Baza, Kellen Otte, and Melissa Otte;A graet-grandchild, Robert Tumlinson; a sister , Zelma Sholly of Spencer IA. a brother and his wife , Edward and Conny Otte of Mesa Ariz. ; also other relatives ande many friends.
He was precesed in death by his parents, a brother; and a brother-in-law.
