ROBERT l. SULLIVAN
(February 20, 1943 - June 22, 2008)

ROBERT L. SULLIVAN, 65, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25th, at 2 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. The Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Boothby Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. On line condolences may be sent to www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Robert was born February 20, 1943 in Cherokee, Iowa to Lloyd and Lois (Hames) Sullivan. He attended schools in Meriden and Cherokee. He was married to Lorrene “Lori” Van Roekel on May 19, 1984 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. He worked for Cherokee Cold Storage for 23 years and the Cherokee Landfill for 5 years, retiring in 2004 due to health reasons. He had lived in Cherokee most of his life, entering Cherokee Villa 3 1/2 years ago. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Bob was a big Elvis fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Lance Sullivan, one stepdaughter Brenda Joines and one niece Mary Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife Lori, one son Roy Shane Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter Alieda Sullivan of Sioux City, Iowa; five step-children: Karla Brown of Cherokee, Iowa; Sue Driesen and her husband Duey of Cherokee, Iowa; Kevin Van Roekel and his wife Kris of Cherokee, Iowa; Melissa Van Roekel of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Twila McDaniel of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters: Jim Sullivan and his wife Joell of Sioux City, Iowa; Tom Keller and his wife Mary of Cherokee, Iowa; Vern Sullivan Sr. and his wife Linda of Rutland, Iowa; Sandy Oatman and her husband Lester of Alta, Iowa; Joyce Winterboer of Mason City, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
