Alyssa G. Dobson, 28, of rural Larrabee passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at her home west of Larrabee, following a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.

Memorial services were held Friday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the Alta High School Gymnasium in Alta, with Bob Blair officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Township Cemetery in rural Meriden. Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee was in charge of the arrangements.

Alyssa was born May 31, 1979 at New Ulm, Minn. to Dennis and Cherry (Nelson) Jeske. She graduated from Cathedral High School at New Ulm, Minn. in 1997. She received her BA Degree at the South Dakota State University in 2002. She was married to Luke Dobson on Jan. 24, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, Minn. She received her Masters Degree in Education at Minnesota State University at Mankato in 2006. She taught high school physics, chemistry, biology and other science courses, teaching at Heelan High School in Sioux City for one year, then teaching at the Alta Community schools for the past three years. Alyssa lived in the Cherokee area since 2004 and prior to this lived in New Ulm, Minn. Alyssa was very interested in space, NASA and rocketry.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Clifford Jeske and her maternal grandfather LeRoy Nelson.

She is survived by her husband Luke Dobson of Larrabee; her parents Dennis and Cherry (Nelson) Jeske of Hanska, Minnesota; her mother-in-law Sally Dobson of Larrabee; her brother Cameron Jeske and his wife Lisa and their children Jessica and Kyle of New Ulm, Minn.; her paternal grandmother Muriel (Jeske) Paulsen of New Ulm, Minn.; her maternal grandmother Virginia Nelson of New Ulm, Minn.; Alyssa's aunts and uncles: Kathy and Steve Pringle, Nicollet, Minn.; Wayne and Margo Jeske, Excelsior, Minn.; Bonnie and Tom Dahl, Albert Lea, Mn.; Mike and Lola Nelson, Owatonna, Mn.; Lori Nelson, Stacy, Minn. Alyssa's special cousins: Angela Kime, Rochester, Minn.; Maddie Rose Nelson, Stacy, Minn.; Nicole Cagle, LeSueur, Minn.; Eric Jeske, Chaska, Minn.; Kristin Bailey, Janesville, Minn.; Clifford Pringle, Mankato, Minn.
