Pauline G. Rathjen, 64, of Ida Grove, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christensen Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove, with burial at Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove. The Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home of Ida Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Pauline was born on March 27, 1943 in Cherokee, the daughter of Garland "Skeets" and Pauline "Dreyer" Duvall. She attended Cherokee Community Schools.

She was united in marriage with Lou Rathjen on Aug. 4, 1973 near Cherokee, to this union two children were born. Pauline and Lou moved to the Ida Grove area and made it their home together with the rest of their family.

Pauline was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Pauline was also very involved with the Ida County Cancer Support Group and the Ida County Relay for Life, being honored as being named co-chair of that event a few years ago. She loved her flowers, her pets and calling on those who were ill and offer them encouragement and strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Tommy.

Pauline is survived by her husband Lou of Ida Grove; son Tom "Brandon" Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Elizabeth Enneking of Marcus and grandson Daniel Rector of Ida Grove, she is also survived by brothers Garland Duvall Jr. of Des Moines and Mike Duvall of Cherokee and sister Sherry Rupp of Quimby.
