Robert "Bob" Stratton, 82, of Estherville, died Sunday Dec. 16, 2007 at Avera Holy Family Health Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral Services were held Dec. 20, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Father Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial was in the Holy Name Cemetery, Marcus.

Robert Stratton was born on Nov. 1, 1925 in Quimby, to Treff and Edna (McCannon) Stratton. He was educated in the Silver Township country school in rural Cherokee. On April 3, 1951 he married Doris Meyer in Marcus.

She preceded him in death in 1992. Bob farmed all of his life and retired in 1995 and moved to Estherville to be close to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and watching wildlife from his dining room window. Bob also helped with the family catering business the last few years. He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris (1992), a daughter Linda Phillips (2005), sisters Carole Conley and Wilma Nelson.

Bob is survived by one daughter, Barbara Blaise of Estherville; one grandson, Timothy Blaise of Estherville; one granddaughter, Melanie Metzger and her husband, Howard, and their children Trent and Jacob of Estherville; two brothers, Merlin Stratton of Des Moines, and Jim Stratton of Chico, Calif.; a son-in-law Gary Phillips of Estherville.
