Eulalia Woltman, 85, of Cherokee, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness.
Services were held Dec. 22, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee.
Eulalia was born Aug. 26, 1922 in White Lake, S.D. to Francis and Mary Elizabeth (Mueller) Miller. The family moved to a farm near Alta, in 1927, and Eulalia attended Alta Consolidated School, graduating from high school in 1940. She graduated second in her class and was active in high school music programs. In 1939 she received the award for being Buena Vista's 4-H math champion. Following graduation, she attended Buena Vista University and received her B.A. degree in elementary education.
On April 18, 1960 she married Wayne Woltman. He preceded her in death. To this union were born two sons, Kirk and Kyle Woltman. Eulalia taught school in the elementary grades for 34 years in the communities of Truesdale, Newell, Quimby, and Meriden-Cleghorn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, in 2004; four brothers and one granddaughter, Sylvia Jane Woltman.
Survivors include sons, Kirk Woltman, and his wife, Krista, of Marion; Kyle Woltman, of Cherokee; a step-son, Kevin Woltman, of Larrabee; a grand-daughter, Sophia Mary Woltman, of Fort Edward, N.Y.; a grandson, Mac Wayne Woltman, of Marion; step-grandsons, Miles and Mitchell Martins, of Marion; a sister and brother in law, George and Genevieve Steig, of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Joyce Pyle, and her husband, Virgil, of Cherokee; Gary Woltman, of Arnolds Park; nieces, nephews, and cousins in South Dakota and Ohio.
