Dolores M. Letsche, 94, of Marcus passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Rohde Funeral Home in Marcus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Dolores Marie Letsche was born Dec. 1, 1913, to Frank T. and Elizabeth (Nacke) Kass. She was raised on a farm in Plymouth County, near Remsen, Iowa. She attended a rural school close to her home.
On Jan. 30, 1936, she and Carl Letsche were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. The couple made their home on a farm north of Marcus for 35 years. They retired in the spring of 1971 and moved into Marcus. Carl passed away July 10, 1984. She moved to Heartland Care Center on June 7, 2006.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Ann's Guild and Missionary. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, especially caring for her roses. She also liked to play pinochle with her family and friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Jerry and Charlene Letsche of Marcus, Fern and Jack Clarkson of Marcus, Charles and Jackie Letsche of Cherokee, Iowa, Arnold and Pat Letsche of Krugerville, Texas, and Teresa and Don Dalton of Cherokee; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sisters, Imelda Roethler of Marcus and Georgia Kass of Le Mars, Iowa; and brothers and their wives, Joe and Pat Kass of Cherokee, Ray and Florine Kass of Marcus and Charles and Donna Kass of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Letsche; a great-grandson, Michael Letsche on Aug. 13, 2007; two brothers, Greg and Leo Kass; and a sister, Rita Schuetz.
