Mari Ann Kintigh, 92, longtime Cherokee resident, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Country Side Estates in Cherokee following a short illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Ethan Sayler officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery, rural Larrabee, Iowa. A family prayer service will be 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m., at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mari Ann was born Aug. 27, 1915, at McGregor, Iowa, to Anton and Kate (Geske) Huebsch. She graduated from Coe College in 1936, with degrees in English and music.

She was married to Raymond Kintigh on June 1, 1943, at Cherokee.

She taught for several years in the Larrabee, Allison, Meriden-Cleghorn and Quimby-Washta schools. Mari Ann was a gifted pianist and enjoyed teaching piano for many years.

She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and Tone Circle. She especially enjoyed playing bridge in her later years with her friends.

Survivors include a son, Tom Kintigh of Ottumwa, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Kintigh on Feb. 21, 1995; her brothers, Fred and Tom Huebsch; and a sister, Dorothy Huebsch.
