Deana "Cookie" Lussier, 65, of Cherokee passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at her daughter's residence in Cherokee following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Earnest Funeral Home in Marcus, Iowa, with Chaplain Don Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be after 4 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Deana "Cookie" Lussier was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Paullina, Iowa. She attended school in Marcus, Iowa.

She married Gary "Louie" Lussier Sr. on May 4, 1960, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple made their home in Marcus until 1982, when the family moved to Cherokee. She was employed at the Mental Health Institute from 1980 to 1989 as a resident treatment worker. She purchased the bar, "Cookie's Tap" while employed at M.H.I. in the late 1980s and ran the bar until 2001.

She enjoyed her family and friends, both in the Marcus and Cherokee communities. All who knew her will remember that she was a very caring and loving person.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vickie Lussier and her special friend, Shawn Hale of Cherokee, Connie Borders of Cherokee, Gary Lussier Jr. of Cherokee, Thad "Skeeter" Lussier of Cherokee, Kelly Boggs of Cherokee and her special friend, Curt Riddle of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Monet Lussier and her fiance, Chris Reed of Cherokee; grandchildren, Joshua Waterman of Cherokee, Jessica Borders of Cherokee, Kenny Borders of Cherokee, Ashley Lussier of Erie, Pa., Zachary Lussier of Erie, Pa., Michael Lussier of Aurora, Colo., Bryce Lussier of Cherokee and Justin Boggs of Ankeny, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Alexis Waterman and Attison Waterman, both of Cherokee; a sister and her husband, Sally Ann and Richard Kueny of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Gene and Janice Franck of Marcus, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian Franck and Harry Erickson; her husband, Gary "Louie" Lussier Sr.; a brother, Jerry Franck; and a son-in-law, Jim Borders.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Franck, Shawn Hale, Chris Reed, Justin Boggs, Joshua Waterman and Kenny Borders.
