Ret. Lt. Cmdr Kenneth L. Ahlgren, 68, passed away Thursday, June 4th, at 11:25 a.m. in the Palomar Hospital in Escondido, California, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Ahlgren was cremated and the ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean.

He was born July 19, 1929 in Cherokee, Iowa to Gust and Elise (Carlson) Ahlgren. He grew up in Cherokee County. He attended Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa. He was married to Georgia Barthel on August 31, 1962 at Honolulu, Hawaii. He entered the Navy and became a pilot, serving for 23 years and retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He had lived in Del Mar, California for 25 years, prior to this he lived in Colorado and Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia of Del Mar, California; one sister, Bernice Hohbach and her husband Lawrence of Marcus; two nieces, one nephew, six great-nieces, one great-nephew and one great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
