Funeral services for Rev. Ernest Stanworth, 89, were held at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Lynn King, pastor of the church, conducting the rites. Rev. Stanworth passed away at Sioux Valley Hospital Tuesday morning.

Music for the service was provided by the church choir and congregation. Burial, with Wharton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, was in Pleasant hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jeff, Kevin and Richard Will, Rev. E. C. Boom, Byron Reed and Henry Meyer; Honorary Bearers were Henry Anderson, John Galvin, Glenn Loucks, Ralph Peterson, Walter Peterson, and Arthur Ohlson.

Rev. Stanworth was born Aug. 3, 1886, at Nelson, Lancashire, England. He was united in marriage with Mary Smith Feb. 5, 1920, and the couple came to Dickens, Iowa that same year. He also served the following congregations: Webb-Gillet Grove, Crystal Lake, Sanborn and Melvin, before coming to Aurelia in 1941 for eight years, following which he served the congregation at Peterson until he retired to Aurelia in 1956. Mrs. Stanworth passed away in April, 1951.

Rev. Stanworth is survived by his daughter, Eveline, and son-in-law, Dean Will of Aurelia; eight grandchildren, a sister, Ada Stanworth in England, and two nieces.
