Donald D. Jones, 83, of Roseville, Calif., formerly of Cherokee, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, in Citrus Heights, Calif.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, with the Rev. Bruce Rapp officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars L.A. Wescott Post 2253. Arrangements are under the direction of Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Don was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Quimby, Iowa, to Alva and Bernice (Agnew) Jones. He graduated from Calumet (Iowa) High School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He then started a long career in retail management on the West Coast, retiring in Roseville, Calif.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Vickie (Viola Downey) of Roseville; a daughter, Connie Flynn of Stockton, Calif.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Gary and Judy Jones of Cherokee; and a sister, Sally Puhrmann of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Terry in 1999.
