Thomas H. Hueser, 75, of Marcus, passed away on Nov. 18, 2007 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Eugene Murray officiated.

Burial followed at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by F.I. Goodburn Post #517 of the American Legion. Visitation was held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus.

The family was present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service scheduled for 7 p.m. There was also a one-hour visitation at the church on today prior to Mass.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of the American Legion or Hospice.

Thomas H. Hueser was born on Dec. 8, 1931, in Le Mars, to Herb and Marie (Meehan) Hueser. He was raised at Marcus, and graduated from Holy Name High School in 1949. Tom spent his entire life in the Marcus area. He farmed in the area for 40 years with the exception of the three years he spent serving his country in the U.S. Army. He served one of those years overseas in France prior to earning his honorable discharge.

In June of 1957 Tom married Sharon Wilberding. Three children were born to this union, Cynthia, Randal and Kevin. Sharon passed away in January of 1973. Tom and Martha Truelson were united in marriage in Aug. of 1977. Two children were born to their union, Michael and Matthew. In addition to farming, Tom worked for Wetherel Manufacturing in Cleghorn for five years and drove a school bus for the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn School District for 10 years.

Tom was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He was also a life-member of the F.I. Goodburn Post 517 of the American Legion, serving 13 years as commander and several years with the color guard. Tom was also a life-member of the Cherokee VFW Post 2238. He served for seven years on the Marcus Elevator Board and two years on the First Farmers' Elevator Board.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sharon; a son, Randal; and a grandson, Garret.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Martha of Marcus; a daughter, Cindy Kass of Douglas, Wyo.; sons, Kevin and his wife, Michelle of Elk Point, S.D., Michael and his wife, Jennifer of Hainesville, Ill., and Matthew and his fiancee, Becky Hoffard of Des Moines; six grandsons, Corey, Justin and Bryan Kass, Jared, Lucas and Marcus Hueser; a granddaughter, Morgan Hueser; three great-grandchildren, Jade, Drake and Braxton; and a brother, Jack and his wife, Jean of Marcus.
