1932-2007 REDIG FUNERAL HOME
Memorial services for Janet D. Kolpin, 75, of Cherokee will be at 10:30 a.m.., Wed. Nov. 28, 2007, at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Internment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of the arrangements.

Janet died Sun. Nov.25, 2007 at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia.

Janet Dora Wieland was born Aug. 29, 1932, at the Bates Hospital in Aurelia, the daughter of George and Pauline (Stutz) Wieland. She received her education in the Aurelia Community School System , and graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1950. While in school Janet played the clarinet in band, sang in mixed choirs, was a member of the F.H.A., and served as a homecoming attendant. She attended the Methodist Church where she played the piano for adult Sunday School, and was learning to play the church's pipe organ. After Janet graduated she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Cherokee where she worked as an operator for a few months then worked in the business office for 4 years.

On Sept 24, 1954 Janet married Harlan Kolpin in Jackson MN. In 1955 they moved to Chariton Iowa, and lived there until 1968, then they moved to Knoxville, IA,. In 1970 Janet and Harlan divorced . Janet moved back to the area and settled in Cherokee with her 5 children. She worked a few years for O&E Cafe in Cherokee, and then worked at Hilltop Care Center in Cherokee until her retirement in 1998.

Survivors include her 5 children, Kathy and her husband Dale Zock of Cherokee, Richard Kolpin of Cherokee, Cindy and her husband Dale Graham of Cherokee, Pam Craig of Cherokee, and James and his wife Linda Kolpin of Aurelia. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Mellisa Agnitsch, Jody Zock, William Graham, Jessica Graham, Adam Craig, Abby Craig, Ian Kolpin, and Eli Kolpin, 2 great-grandchildren; Dylan Agnitsch and and Dominic Graham, 1 sister; Gretchen and her husband Dean Mummert of Cherokee, 1 sister-in-law Darlene Joy Wetrosky of Cherokee.
