1918-2007 REDIG FUERAL HOME

Memorial services for Loren Steemke, 89, will be Sat. Nov. 24, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Pastor Harold Werley officiating. The Redig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Loren Dale Steemke was born Aug. 15, 1918, the son of John R. and Emma C. (Kludas) Steemke in Cherokee, Iowa. He graduated from the Cherokee High School in 1935. On Sept. 23 , 1942 Loren Married Arline Virginia Minard at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake Iowa. He farmed in Iowa for 30 years before moving to Calif. where he worked as an inspector for Lockheed Aircraft. He retired in Aug. of 1980. Loren was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. He enjoyed working, hunting, traveling, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Loren died Wed. Nov. 21, 2007, at Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center in Aurelia, where he had been a resident since Feb. 2, 2005.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife on July 6, 2007, and 2 sons, Ronald and Larry.

Survivors include his son Donald and his wife Lisa Steemke of Aurelia, daughter-in-law Susan Steemke of Aurelia and Los Angeles, CA, 6 grandchildren, David Steeke of Grand Forks ND, Kelly Wallace of San Diego CA., Shannon Steemke of Gilbert AR, Shawen Steemke of Aurelia, Christina Steemke of Litteton ,CO, and step-grandson Kevin Smith Of Valley Springs ,CA, and 2 great-grandsons, Sean Loren and Jacob Steemke of Aurelia.
