1900-1960 CHEROKEE ARCHIVES

George A. Johnson, 60, well known resident of the Aurelia community passed away at his home here Sunday following a sudden illness.

The son of Axel and Blenda (Peterson) he was born on Sept. 19, 1900.

He was united in marriage to Eurella Waddell on Dec. 26, 1935.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia and served on the board for several years. He was a director of the First Trust and Savings Bank, served on the town council and was a member of the Aurelia Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife; his father -in-law, Frank Waddell; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Effie) Ohlson of Cherokee; 3 brothers, Rudolph of Cherokee; Clarence of Seattle Wash.;and Ronald of Renton, Wash. and 2 little boys. Allan and Todd Halquist whom he affectionately called his grandsons.

Funeral services were held, Wed. afternoon at 2:00 at the Methodist Church, with Rev. F.E Flowers conducting the service. Music was provided by his niece, Mrs. Harley McKinnis Jr. of Minneapolis, accompanied by Mrs. O. C. Waddell. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Nelson, Raymond Nelson, George Harden, Orlo Shank, Edmund Radke and Howard Deyloff.
