1923-1995 CHEROKEE ARCHIVES

Mrs. Gene (Faye) Elder, 71, of Cherokee, died Sunday afternoon, Apr. 16, 1995, at her home following a three year battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Wed. Apr 19, at 9:30 a.m. from the First Church of Christ at Cherokee. Mr. Gregg Johnson officiated and burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Cemetery at Storm Lake Iowa. Boothby Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

N. Faye Elder was born June, 15, 1923, to
Theodore and Edna (Ohlson) Nordstrom. She grew up in Diamond Township, along with 7 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1940, and from Bishop Clarkson School of Nursing at Omaha, Nebr. in 1945. Faye and Gene Elder were married on June 4, 1946, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, rural Cherokee. To this union were born, Darrel R., Roger T.,Mary Ann, James R., and Adam E. She worked as a registered nurse in various clinical settings in the area.

She is survived by: her husband, her children, Darrel and his wife ,Jerri, of Aurelia, Roger and his wife Karen, of Mason City, Mary Anne and her husband Marvin Block , of Orchard, Neb., James and his wife Maureen, of Casper Wyo.: and Adam of Cherokee. 8 grandchildren. 3 sisters, Ann and her husband Vincent Becker; Vera and her husband, Oswald Andersen and Edna O'Neal, all of Aurelia.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, 1 sister, Muriel ( Mrs. Conley Brickson); and brothers Ted, Reitzell and Wendell,.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ.
