Flossie Marie James, 95, of Larrabee, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Magrey deVega officiated.

Burial was in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee.

Flossie was born July 14, 1912 at Middleton, Mo., the daughter of Joseph and Cora (Parsons) Oden. She was married to Glen James on Sept. 10, 1928 at Bowling Green, Mo. In 1935, the couple moved to the Larrabee area where the couple farmed for 50 years.

She continued living on her farm northwest of Larrabee until entering Sunset Knoll Retirement home in October of 2000. She was a very active member of the Larrabee United Methodist Church. She was a practical nurse for several years, served as a 4-H leader, a local Red Cross volunteer, and a hospital Gray Lady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen, one son Donald James in 2006, a grandson Douglas Kurt James and two brothers Floyd Oden and Reuben Oden in infancy.

She is survived by one son: Harold Joe James and his wife Bonnie of Monona; a daugher-in-law Rebecca James of Broomfield, Colo.; Seven grandchildren: Dan (Bonnie) James of Larrabee; Bob (Beth) James of Larrabee; Tim (Mary) James of Des Moines; Marilyn (Randy) Crider of Broomfield, Colo.; Shelby (Teresa) James of Thorton, Colo.; Peggy (Dale) Greimann of Galena, Ill.; Brenda (Greg) James of West Union, Iowa; 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
